FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

WHERE DOES MONEY FROM SPONSORS AND REGISTRATION FEES GO?

First we have to pay all the expenses and then keep an amount to start the next year race. After this, the Committee will donate the rest of the funds to the Breast Friends Foundation a non-profit organization for the help to cure Breast Cancer.

WHEN DOES REGISTRATION OPEN?

Registration is open from Oct.1st 2015 to May 21st 2016.

DO YOU LIMIT THE NUMBER OF RUNNERS?

We have no race limits at this time. Please REGISTER EARLY. Time is running.

WILL YOU HAVE PACERS?

There will be no Pace runners for this race.

DO YOU HAVE A TIME LIMIT ON THE RACE?

Yes. The time limit on the race will be four (4) hours. We have to open the roads so that the neighbors can go about their daily business. A vehicle will be behind the last runner and the roads open behind that athlete.

CAN I HAVE DOGS, CELL PHONES, STROLLERS, FRIENDS, ON THE COURSE?

Sorry, no dogs are allowed. You may run with your cell phone and jog strollers. However, we do not recommend cell phones as you will not be able to hear other runners and any emergency call that might be important. Only registered runners will be allowed to compete, no friends.

HOW WILL THE OFFICIAL TIME BE TAKEN?

Chip time will determine the individual athlete time and not a GUN to start.

DO I HAVE TO PURCHASE A TIMING CHIP?

The race will provide a timing chip to each athlete which will be on your bib.

WILL THERE BE CORRALS?

Yes. Based on the athletes expected finishing time there will be large corrals. The first for those expected to finish under one hour and forty-five minutes. The second for those finishing under 2 hours. The third for those expected to finish under 2 hours and thirty minutes and finally all others.

WILL THERE BE A PLACE TO DROP BAGS AT THE START LINE?

The race will not be responsible for items left at the start line unless they are given to us at the Drop Bag Area. Please do not bring your wallets. These bags will be available at the Finish Line. Bring your swim suits because at the finish line is a beautiful beach waiting.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I FORGET TO CLAIM MY BAG AFTER THE RACE?

All left bags will be brought to the race office. We will do our best to locate you. If we cannot we will keep the bag for two weeks than dispose of it.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I LOSE SOMETHING AT THE RACE?

We will have a lost and found so contact a race official and let them know where you think you lost it and if it is found we will keep it for you.

WHERE ARE THE BEST PLACES TO WATCH THE RACE?

You can see the runners anywhere along the 13.1 mile route. However, at the junction of Cedar Grove main road and Friars Hill Road where the runners will pass twice and the finish line at Fort James will be the best places. Come out and cheer the runners on.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT INFORMATION ABOUT A RUNNER?

Once the race has started, all information will be at the race office boot at the finish line. Detailed information about the race, including results will be posted on the web site.

WHERE AND WHEN CAN I PICK-UP MY PACKET?

Packet pick-up is Saturday, May 28th at Exposition from 2pm to 6pm at a place to be decided. More information will be posted after May 1st 2016. No race packet will be given out on race morning. This is the time to start running.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME TO PICK UP MY PACKET?

Please bring your photo ID. We want to be sure that each person gets the right packet.

CAN I AUTHORIZE ANOTHER PERSON TO PICK UP MY RACE PACKET?

Yes. A friend can pick-up your race bib and packets. To have this done, you must call the race office in advance or write a note. The friend must have a picture ID. No one runs without a bib.

WHERE SHOULD I PARK ON RACE DAY?

Remember that the starting line and finish line is 13 miles apart. It would be best to get a ride to the starting line.
